Subject: HH Main Unit Changes and Code Reminder

Good afternoon,

I wanted to let everyone know that we have some changes with our units due to the recent spikes in COVID cases. Starting Monday morning (8/16), our COVID dialysis unit will resume operations out of 7T. That ED obs/overflow area will be relocated to 3NE. The Central pharmacists will take on order responsibilities for the 7T COVID dialysis unit and the ED/UB 6 will begin managing the 3NE ED obs/overflow unit.

Monday, 8/16 0700:
7T-M (current ED overflow) moves to 3NE (currently vacant)
7T-M will become a COVID(+) dialysis unit

Summary of Responsibility Changes:
UB6, ED = 3NE order verification, codes, S7s (UB 6)
Central Pharmacy (t, te, Q4/te collapsed position) = 7T order verification
G. Belzer Lists and PPMs to be updated Sunday evening

Additionally, MICU will likely start double bunking rooms starting Monday to increase ICU space (rooms 12, 13, 15, 16). Please be aware there could be an A and B patient in that area. There could also be other floors double bunking for any reason unexpectedly throughout the hospital. Please utilize your HRO principles and take a S.T.A.R. moment to help prevent multiple types of errors that can occur when caring for patients in those semi-private rooms.

Codes and COVID: Continue to provide support outside of patient rooms during codes and make sure you announce to the code team that Pharmacy is present. In addition to the updated door hangers indicating if an N95 is required (COVID/PUI), it is still encouraged to limit entry into any patient rooms when possible to further cut down on the potential spread amongst our staff and patients.

Please let me know if there are any questions with any of the adjustments. We will continue to update you on any other unit or process changes that arise.
