NITROglycerin ointment label for RN
Nitroglycerin ointment shortage flyer
Due to a national shortage of NITROglycerin ointment 2% 1 gram unit-dose packets, we are starting to transition some of the nursing units from using the unit-dose packets to the multi-dose 30 gram tubes. The 30 g tubes will be stored in the floorstock cabinets of the affected units. The nursing units will also have a back-up supply of one 30 g tube loaded in their Pyxis machine. The attached flyer will be posted in each affected unit's med room. Also, as a courtesy, pharmacy will keep a supply of labels for the nurses to attach to their dose paper to take to the patients' rooms. These labels will be kept at Main by the console technician.
The first units to transition (today) are: 3E, 3W, 6E, 6W, 6N, 6NE, 6NW, 6MST, CSSM-1, and CSSM-2.
An anticipated release date has NOT been announced.
At this time, only HH Main is affected. HHWC uses very little and will hopefully make it without any changes.
Let me know if you have questions.
