FYI - When verifying doses to be given in the future (usually the 156 mg dose), it's best to change the 'initial doses' blank to 0 to print no label. The nurses should med request the dose when it is due. There's no guarantee that these doses will not get lost if they are sent to the floor 2-3 days early.

Subject: Invega Sustenna and Serial Number

Folks, starting today, Janssen is requiring us to record the serial number of Invega Sustenna doses on the reimbursement request for the doses used here for inpatients and ED patients.  For each patient you are dispensing Invega Sustenna for, please record the 12 digit serial number on the patient Invega Sustenna log in pharmacy shared/access file.  This would need to be recorded at the time of dispensing, and can be found on the bottom of each box that the drug is packaged in.   As this is a 12 digit number and is easy to make an error in recording, please make a special effort to be sure the number recorded is correct.   If the number is not correct or not recorded at all we probably won't be reimbursed for the dose.   The Invega Sustenna doses are expensive, with the 234 mg dose costing about $2,500 and the 156 dose costing about $1,900.   There is a reminder when logging in information to include the serial number.  We have been working this into the process during March, but now it is being required.   Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks for your cooperation with this new required step in the recording process.
