Subject: Sennosides (Senokot/Senna Leaf Extract) Dosage Change

Due to confusion resulting med safety issues associated with senna leaf extract LIQUID product, we have updated the Cerner and Pyxis formularies today to reflect the dose as amount of sennosides product (8.8 mg) instead of the total extract (176 mg).

Therefore, a dose of 1 UD Cup of the liquid product will be listed as 8.8 mg in 5 mL.  Additionally, this will more closely align with the dosing associated with the tablet products going forward.  Current orders have been updated to reflect this new dosage.

Please let us know if you experience any issues with this change.
