Comparative pharmacodynamics of intermittent and prolonged infusions of piperacillin/tazobactam using Monte Carlo simulations and steady-state pharmacokinetic data from hospitalized patients. 2009 - Among the results found:  The Cummulative Fraction of Response for 3.375 gm every 8 hours given over 4 hours was comparable to 4.5 gm every 6 hours given over 30 minutes.

Piperacillin-tazobactam for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection: Clinical implications of an extendedinfusion dosing strategy. 2007 - This study found that the sickest patients (patients with APACHE II score > 17 had lower 14-day mortality (31.6% vs 12.2%, p=.04) and shorter median LOS (21 days vs 38 days, p=.02) in the extended infusion arm compared to the 30-minute infusion arm.
