DigiFab Dosing
DIGIFAB™ DOSING Each vial of DigiFab™ 40mg will bind ~ 0.5mg of digoxin. Dosage for Patients Who Have Been Taking Digoxin Greater Than 7 Days: · Dose * = (Digoxin level)(Weight in kg) (in # of vials) 100 * Round dose up to nearest whole vial. Dosage for Acute (less than 7 days) Ingestion of Unknown Amounts of Digoxin: · 10 vials administered with careful cardiac monitoring of the patient’s response followed, at the physician’s discretion, by 10 additional vials and continued monitoring.*** ***digoxin levels will greatly increase with DigiFab™ use and are not an accurate determination of body stores. Do not re-dose based on new level. ***elimination of DigiFab™ in renally impaired patients could take several days. Dosage for Toxicity During Chronic (greater than 7 days) Therapy If Level Unknown: · 6 vials should be adequate to reverse most cases of toxicity. DigiFab™ should be administered slowly as an IV infusion over at least 30 minutes. If cardiac arrest is imminent, dose can be given by a bolus injection.
