     System Formulary Restriction:

     Use of levothyroxine injection is restricted to patients who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Pre-existing hypothyroidism and expected NPO for > 7 days
  • Symptomatic hypothyroidism while NPO
  • Myxedema coma
  • Brain death
  • Carolina Donor Services Organ Donation Program
