Recommendations:

  1. Lisinopril is recommended to be used as the 1st line agent. Patients who are on ACE inhibitors other than lisinopril or captopril will be therapeutically interchanged to lisinopril while inpatient.
  2. Captopril is recommended for patients who receive these agents at home or patients that have specific indications for these medications.
  3. Enalapril oral formulations (i.e. tablets and oral solution) will be restricted to the pediatric population, while enalaprilat IV will remain on formulary with no restrictions.
  4. Benazepril, fosinopril, moexipril, quinapril, and ramipril have been removed from the formulary system.
