  • Neurologic symptoms (e.g., paresis, respiratory paralysis, seizures, hyponatremia)
  • Urine porphobilinogen (PBG) elevated (or normal urine PBG with elevated urine δ-aminolevulinic acid/ALA)
  • Iron, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), and ferritin ordered (or resulted within last 30 days)
