Imovax Rabies is grown in human diploid cell culture (HDCV).

RabAvert is grown in purified chick embryo cell culture (PCEC).

 

Per the CDC: 'Optimally the same vaccine (either HDCV or PCEC) should be used throughout the vaccination series'

In patients with hypersensitivity to egg or chicken protein, the RabAvert should only be administred by personnel with the capability and facilities to manage anaphylaxis post vaccination.
