High Alert Drug

Comments:

Errors have resulted from mix-ups between the abbreviations "MS" or "MSO4" for morphine sulfate and "MgSO4" for magnesium sulfate. Mag Sulfate Magnesium Sulfate 4.06 mEq per ml, or greater is a high alert drug. It is to be stored only in the pharmacy with exceptions of the crash carts and the operating room.
