IV dose is 50% oral dose.
Synthroid is an automatic substitution for all oral forms of levothyroxine
Restricted to patients with myxedema coma, or hypothyroid patients who are NPO and unable to tolerate oral formulation after not receiving oral dose for 4 days.
May also be used if recommended by endocrinology or in patients awaiting organ harvest under the direction of the donor network.
