Comments:

Insulin regular U-100 vials will be stocked in unit OmniCells beginning 07/16/24 for nurse dispensed administration. All RNs please consult your Nurse Managers/Educators for instructions.

All U-500 insulin regular formulations are no longer formulary. All U-500 insulin regular will be converted to a basal/bolus regimen of insulin glargine (Lantus) and insulin lispro (Humalog) by pharmacy.

All used or opened insulin pens and vials should be disposed of in black hazardous waste bins. Any opened insulin pens or vials will not be accepted as returns to pharmacy.
