Comments:

Sugammadex use is RESTRICTED to:

1. the reversal of muscle relaxation by the neuromuscular blocking agent Rocuronium in the OR. The patient must stay in the PACU for at least 30 minutes after Sugammadex is used. Sugammadex use must be communicated to the receiving unit.

2. reversal of paralysis in patients needing to be assessed for emergent neurosurgical intervention (call pharmacy to bedside for emergent dispensing).

3. for use as a reversal agent if intubation is unsuccessful due to a difficult airway or obstruction. 

Stock RESTRICTION: Sugammadex will be stocked in the pharmacy emergency bag.  Storage of Sugammadex is restricted to OR A-carts/pyxis and pharmacy.
