Eltrombopag (Promacta)

Situation

Eltrombopag (Promacta) formulary standardization was approved by the System Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee in March 2022.

Background

The following medications were reviewed: eltrombopag (Promacta) 25 mg tablets, eltrombopag (Promacta) 50 mg tablets

Assessment/Recommendation

Changes effective: Tuesday, April 26^th

System P&T voted to include the following products on the UNC Health Care System Drug Formulary:

• Eltrombopag (Promacta) 25 mg tablets
  • Orders must be signed by a Hematology/Oncology Attending Physician

System P&T voted to exclude the following products on the UNC Health Care System Drug Formulary:

• Eltrombopag (Promacta) 50 mg tablets
