Glycoprotein IIb-IIIa Inhibitors

Situation

The glycoprotein IIb-IIIa inhibitors class review and formulary standardization was approved at the February 2021 System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meeting.

Background

The following medications were reviewed: eptifibatide, tirofiban

Assessment/Recommendation

Changes effective: Tuesday, March 30, 2021

System P&T voted to include the following products on the UNC Health Medication Formulary:

  • Eptifibatide 75 mg/100 mL (100 mL) vial
  • Eptifibatide 20 mg/10 mL (10 mL) vial

Note: Stock of these formulary products may vary at individual entities

As a result, the following products will be removed from the UNC Health Medication Formulary

  • Tirofiban
