System Formulary Update
Stimulant Class Standardization
April 29, 2025

Situation: The Stimulants for ADHD class review and formulary standardization was approved at the April 2025 System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meeting

Background: The following medications were reviewed: amphetamine, dexmethylphenidate, dextroamphetamine, dextroamphetamine/amphetamine, lisdexamfetamine, methylphenidate 

Assessment/Recommendations: System P&T voted to include the following products on the UNC Health Medication Formulary: 

  • Dexmethylphenidate 5 mg tablets 

  •  

    Dexmethylphenidate 5 mg ER capsule 

  •  

    Dexmethylphenidate 10 mg ER capsule 

  •  

    Dextroamphetamine/amphetamine 5 mg ER capsule 

  •  

    Dextroamphetamine/amphetamine 10 mg ER capsule 

  •  

    Dextroamphetamine/amphetamine 5 mg tablet 

  •  

    Dextroamphetamine/amphetamine 10 mg tablet 

  •  

    Dextroamphetamine/amphetamine 20 mg tablet

  •  

    Lisdexamfetamine 20 mg capsule

  •  

    Lisdexamfetamine 30 mg capsule

  •  

    Methylphenidate 5 mg tablet 

  •  

    Methylphenidate 10 mg tablet 

  •  

    Methylphenidate 18 mg/24h tablet 

  •  

    Methylphenidate 27 mg/24h tablet 

  •  

    Methylphenidate 36 mg/24h tablet 

  •  

    Methylphenidate 5 mg/mL suspension
