System Formulary Update
IV Sotalol

Situation:

Intravenous sotalol 150 mg/10 mL injection was approved for addition to the health system formulary at the System Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee meeting.

Background:

The following medication was reviewed: Sotalol 150 mg/10 mL intravenous solution

Assessment/Recommendations:

System P&T voted to include intravenous sotalol 150 mg/10 mL injection to the UNC Health Medication Formular with the following restrictions:

  • Use for planned admissions as a loading dose for atrial arrhythmias in adults
  • Orders must be signed by a provider from a Cardiology service or Cardiology consult

Note: Stock of this formulary product may vary at individual entities
