Antidote Availability Policy
Situation:
The implementation of a System Antidote Availability Policy was approved for addition to the health system formulary at the January 2024 System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Commitee meeting
Background:
The policy is currently under review by the PolicyStat posting process. This policy is associated with the Central Antidote Stocking Supply initiative. This initiative establishes antidote hubs for the Central (UNC Medical Center), Eastern (Johnston Health Smithfield), and Western (Appalachian Regional Healthcare System Watauga) regions. These antidote hubs will stock higher minimum pars of high-cost, low-use antidotes. Local sites within each region will be able to pull supply from these antidote hubs.
