Pneumococcal Vaccines Class Standardization

Situation:

The pneumococcal vaccines class review standardization was approved in October 2023.

Background:

The following products were reviewed: pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine (Prevnar 13®), pneumococcal 15-valent conjugate vaccine (Vaxneuvance^TM), pneumococcal 20-valent conjugate vaccine (Prevnar 20®), pneumococcal vaccine polyvalent vaccine (Pneumovax® 23).

Assessment/Recommendations:

System P&T voted to include the following product from the UNC Health System Drug Formulary:

• Pneumococcal 20-valent conjugate vaccine 0.5 mL (Prevnar 20®)
