Metoprolol Tartrate

Situation:

In Epic, in order to provide a dose of metoprolol tartrate 6.25 mg, it currently defaults to the 
25 mg tablet with the admin dose (amount) = 0.25 tablet. 

Background:

Quarter-ing tablets (0.25 tablet) by nursing on the floors may lead to inaccurate doses
administered. The tablet size (25 mg) used for these doses is small and is not scored by the 
manufacturer to accurately provide this dose

Assessment/Recommendations:

Pharmacy can dispense split tablets to improve dosing accuracy for 6.25 mg doses

SSC will provide 6.25 mg doses in quarter tab unit-dose packages
