Situation

Qutenza (capsaicin 8% patch) was approved for addition to the health system formulary at the November 2022 System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meeting.

Background

The following medication was reviewed: capsaicin-skin cleanser (Qutenza) 8% topical patch kit

Assessment/Recommendations

System P&T voted to include the following products on the UNC Health Medication Formulary with restriction to outpatient/clinic use only (ie, no inpatient use):

• Qutenza (capsaicin 8% patch)

Formulary/Epic changes will Go-Live on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
