System Formulary Update
Allylamines/Pyrimidines

Situation

The Allylamines/Pyrimidines class review standardization was approved in October 2022.

Background

The following products were reviewed: terbinafine tablet, flucytosine capsule, flucytosine oral suspension.

Assessment/Recommendations

System P&T voted to include the following products on the UNC Health System Drug Formulary:

  • Terbinafine 250 mg tablet
  • Flucytosine 250 mg capsule
  • Flucytosine 500 mg capsule
  • Flucytosine 50 mg/mL oral suspension (60 mL) (extemporaneous)

As a result, the following products will be removed from the inpatient drug formulary:

  • Flucytosine 10 mg/mL oral suspension (100 mL) (extemporaneous) 

Formulary/Epic changes will Go-Live on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
