Adults and Pediatrics (14 years or older): thiamine doses up to 500 mg may be administered IVP. Thiamine 500 mg IVPB will remain standard administration for 500 mg doses. 500 mg/ 100 mL NS or D5W may be administered over 30 minutes. If a provider specifically orders 500 mg as an IVP, this is considered safe and may be entered into Med Manager by pharmacists.
Pediatrics (less than 14 years): IVPB will remain only option for IV administration of thiamine.
